The Encrypted Gentlemen

We are participants of the FTC (First Tech Challenge), a robotics competition in which more than 12000 teams participate from all over the world. The First Tech Challenge is organised by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). FIRST believes in the development for technology for youth.
At the FTC we are challenged to design, build, program and operate robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge. In the matches we have to play in an alliance format, this means that we have together with another team. We have to communicate with the other team and trust that they can do their tasks correctly.
The Encrypted Gentleman was established in 2017 at the Sondervick College in Veldhoven, The Netherlands, when a few old members got too old to participate in the First Lego League. Since then, a lot of new members have joined and over the years, our team has made a lot of progress.
We learned a lot about constructions, social skills, organizing, programming, presenting and we keep learning more skills to make things easier and better. All skills are useful, maybe in school or later on in life and of course we had a lot of fun in the process!
Wij, “The Encrypted gentlemen”, zijn een team dat deelneemt aan de FTC-competitie (FTC=First Tech Challenge). Dit is een robotica-wedstrijd waaraan meer dan 12.000 teams van over de hele wereld deelnemen. De First Tech Challenge wordt georganiseerd door FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). FIRST is een organisatie die jongeren wereldwijd probeert te interesseren voor technologie. Bij de FTC worden we uitgedaagd om robots te ontwerpen, bouwen en te programmeren zodat we kunnen meedoen met de (internationale) wedstrijden. In deze wedstrijden draait alles om samenwerking; we spelen in alliantievorm (samen met een ander team) en moeten goed overleggen om het beste uit elkaars robot te halen.
The Encrypted Gentlemen werd opgericht in 2017 op het Sondervick College in Veldhoven, Nederland. Teamleden van de First Lego League die te oud werden om aan deze competitie mee te doen hebben het FTC team opgericht. Sindsdien zijn er veel nieuwe leden bijgekomen en door de jaren heen heeft ons team veel vooruitgang geboekt.
We leren veel over technische constructies, programmeren, organiseren, sociale vaardigheden, presenteren en last but not least samenwerken. Alle vaardigheden zijn nuttig, misschien op school of later in het leven.
Het is een superleuke vrijetijdsbesteding, we maken vrienden voor het leven.
